Permission Breakdown for Zeit365 Registration

Zeit365 is a professional time tracking and project management application that integrates seamlessly with your Microsoft 365 environment to help you track work time, manage projects, and bill customers effectively. Here's why each permission is essential for the app to function properly:

Core Identity & Authentication

  • - openid - Allows you to securely sign in with your Microsoft 365 account
  • - profile - Displays your name and basic profile information in the app interface
  • - offline_access - Keeps you logged in so you don't have to re-authenticate every time you use the app

User Management & Collaboration

  • - User.Read - Reads your basic user profile to personalize your experience
  • - User.ReadBasic.All - Displays colleague names and basic info when you collaborate on projects or assign time entries to team members

Team & Project Organization

  • - Group.Read.All - Critical for Zeit365's core functionality: The app uses Microsoft 365 Groups to organize your customers and projects. When you create a customer in Zeit365, you link it to a Microsoft 365 Group, which:
  • - Determines access control - Only members of the linked group can view that customer's time entries and project data
  • - Provides customer branding - The group's profile picture becomes the customer's logo in Zeit365
  • - Enables seamless collaboration - Your existing team structure in Microsoft 365 automatically applies to Zeit365
  • - GroupMember.Read.All - Identifies who has access to which customer projects based on group membership, ensuring proper access control and privacy

Document & Workspace Integration

  • - Sites.Read.All - Provides direct links to related SharePoint sites, Teams channels, and Microsoft 365 services for each customer group, so you can quickly access:
  • - Customer documents and files
  • - Team conversations and planning tools (Planner, OneNote)
  • - Shared calendars and resources

Minimal Data Access: Zeit365 only reads the information it needs - it cannot modify your Microsoft 365 data, delete files, or send emails on your behalf
Leverages Existing Structure: Instead of creating a separate user management system, Zeit365 uses your existing Microsoft 365 groups and permissions, reducing security risks
Transparent Purpose: Every permission directly supports Zeit365's core features of time tracking, project management, and customer billing
Enterprise-Grade Security: Zeit365 uses Microsoft's enterprise authentication system, which means your login credentials never leave Microsoft's secure environment
Granular Access Control: Your Microsoft 365 group memberships automatically determine what customer data you can see in Zeit365, maintaining your organization's existing privacy boundaries

Once you confirm, you'll be asked to Login to your microsoft Account. If you do we will create your Zeit365 App Instance and you will be redirected to your Admin Center!

Our team is gearing up for the upcoming launch of Zeit365 – Version 1. Our goal was to develop a time tracking solution that seamlessly integrates into the Microsoft 365 workflow, delivering real value instead of administrative overhead.

Here are the core features designed to fundamentally streamline your workday:

Intuitive Time Tracker – The Heart of Your Daily Efficiency

Log your work hours in seconds, directly from your flow. Whether using a global input mask or contextually within a project, duration, description, and project assignment are captured with minimal clicks. Your daily total is discreetly updated live in the footer. Depending on your organization’s needs, you can submit your collected entries flexibly—whether daily or weekly—with a single click.

Benefit: Complete time tracking without context switching and stress-free submissions adaptable to your company’s workflow.

Seamless Microsoft 365 Integration (Entra ID)

Zeit365 is deeply integrated into your existing M365 environment. Authentication is handled via Single Sign-On (SSO) through Microsoft Entra ID. Access and editing rights are directly derived from your existing M365 groups. If someone is on the project team in M365, they automatically have the correct permissions in Zeit365.

Benefit: No manual syncing, no duplicate user management. Your IT infrastructure remains the single source of truth.

Personal Dashboard – Your Weekly Command Center

Every employee gets a personalized overview that provides immediate clarity. Visualize your workload in a weekly matrix, analyze your project contributions, and compare target vs. actual hours. A clear distinction between billable and non-billable time helps you manage your productivity effectively.

Benefit: Full transparency over your own performance and a powerful tool for better self-management.

Tenant-Wide Configuration – Adapts to Your Organization

Zeit365 inherits work models directly from Microsoft 365 user settings. Whether full-time, part-time, or a 4-day week, the target working hours are automatically and correctly applied for each employee. Additionally, you can define central parameters like the rounding behavior for time entries (e.g., to the nearest 15-minute interval).

Benefit: The tool adapts to your company’s rules—not the other way around.

Project & Client Hubs – The 360° View for Decision-Makers

Every project and client gets a central dashboard. Track budget consumption, monitor deadlines, and analyze project performance in real-time. Interactive chart components visualize progress and activities, while team overviews provide transparency on staffing. A special highlight is our Chips: contextual quick links that you can attach to projects or even individual time entries. Link directly to Microsoft Loop pages, Git repositories, or critical files, ensuring all information is available with one click right where it’s needed—without digging through SharePoint.

Team Hub – Intelligent Capacity Planning

The Team Hub provides a central overview of every employee’s workload. Identify bottlenecks early with visual heatmaps. Absences like vacation or sick leave are managed centrally in Zeit365.
